Masters of Business Administration (MBA) is considered to be the highest level course that is recommended for students who want to get into the practicality of the field. Most students are attracted to a higher package and the status of an MBA degree holder.

Graduates today want to get into B-schools that are ranked high and drives them into entrepreneurship. These B-schools offers tremendous opportunities for students to engage them into a start-up. Every year a number of Entrance Exams are held in the country for the admissions into PG Degree and Diploma Courses in the Masters of Business Administration. A few of them are very notable and open the avenues of a high profile job and successful career for the qualifying candidates.

 

 

National Level Management Entrance Exams

 

CAT

The exam is held for admissions in all the IIMs which are considered as the best B-Schools in the country. Every year it is held once. The scores are accepted for admission to some 3335 seats in IIMs and 165 other MBA colleges across the nation including IITs.

  • This exam is one of the toughest exams as the percentile required for admissions in IIMs and other best colleges remains in between 98 to 99.9.

 

ATMA – AIMS for Management Courses

This exam has been introduced lately by the HRD Ministry. The main aim was to conduct a single most exam for admission in maximum MBA courses and other courses such as MCA.

  • Scores are accepted by 140 colleges of repute.
  • 180 questions are to be answered in 180 minutes.
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 marks.

 

MAT

It is conducted 4 times in a year in the months of February, September, May, and December. Organizing body is All India Management Association. One of those MBA exams the scores of which are accepted in various colleges and for various PG Management Courses.

  • The exam can be taken in offline as well as the online mode.
  • The results are released in Percentiles.
  • 200 questions are to be answered in 150 minutes.
  • Negative Marking: ¼ marks.

XAT

The exam is conducted for admissions in the XLRI. The exam will have questions from Verbal Ability, Decision Making & Analytical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, General Knowledge, Essay Writing.

  • Duration is 3.30 hours.
  • Negative Marking: ¼ marks.

 

IBSAT

Conducted by the Federation of Universities the exam is also known as the ICFAI Business School Entrance Exam.

The test will be of 2 hours duration in which the candidates have to answer 120 to 125 questions. The exam scores are released as percentiles.

 

MICAT

The test is conducted for admissions in the MBA programs of Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmadabad. Earlier the test was being held once but in 2015, MICA released a notification announcing that the test will be held twice in a year. If the candidates will not be able to pass the exam in the first attempt, they can take the second exam.

 

IRMA

The exam is conducted for admissions in PRM and FPRM programs in the Institute of Rural Management Anand. The admissions will be done on the basis of CAT/XAT/ GMAT scores as the institute does not conduct the full-fledged MBA exam of its own.

An Issues of Social Concern is conducted by the institute which will comprise of 40 questions. Negative Marking is there.

 

IIFT

The test is conducted for admissions in Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. IIFT conducts a written exam in the month of November.

 

NMAT by GMAC

The test is conducted for allotting admissions into the PG programs. The Universities which accept the NMAT scores are NMIMS University, Ansal University, Mody University, NIIT University, SRM University, VIT University, Alliance University, ICFAI University, Munjal University, Thapar University, Woxsen School of Business and Shoolini University.

 

SNAP

The test will be conducted for admissions in the colleges under the Symbiosis International University. The exam qualified candidates need to appear for GD and if shortlisted, for the PI round.
